Chelmsford’s new Chop Bloc restaurant is a steak house owned by butchers Steve and Dave Patten.
Their father Colin, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, also helped with the project, the first of its kind in the town.
The brothers had no experience of running restaurants but had always dreamed of opening one. With the assistance of consultant chef John Benson-Smith, Chop Bloc opened earlier this year and its offer of ‘exceptional steaks and burgers’ and the Bloc Bar serving cocktails, is scoring high marks on TripAdvisor.
Caterware designed and installed the kitchen facilities, including equipment from Josper, Precision, Valentine, Eurocave and three machines from Meiko, a DV200.2GiO AirConcept double basket pass through dishwasher and two FV40.2G-GiO glasswashers.
Says Caterware Managing Director Mark Drazen, “This project was managed by our Business Development Manager Eammon Allen. We specified Meiko machines for this project because they are a premium brand product that matched the rest of the high-end equipment specification installed within this large volume restaurant.
“The DV200.2GiO AC gave us a twin basket machine to cope with the volume and the auto condense system saved expense for the customer and meant neither Caterware nor the contractor had to concern ourselves about what would have been a complicated dishwash extract scheme.
“The glasswashers were selected because of their ability to produce clean glasses every time without having to dry them by hand. They are also easy to install in any application due to the drain pump system as standard.
“In all instances the GiO System ensures that the customer does not have to worry about water quality issues and all the hassles which evolve from traditional water softeners.
“Backed up by Meiko’s after sales service and warranty package, choosing Meiko was easy!”
