BioMaster provides caterers with a sustainable, green, environment-friendly way of dealing with food waste.

Whether it is scrap food from plates, vegetable peelings and meat trimmings from the kitchen, or waste oil, grease or any other liquid such as soups, BioMaster can turn it into something that benefits the planet.

BioMaster creates biomass, which fuels the new generation of anaerobic digestion plants in the UK to create energy from waste.

Announcing that Meiko UK was the 2020 'Sustainable Catering Equipment Manufacturer Award Winner', sponsor Patrick Renouard, Head of Strategic Partnerships UK & Nordics for Winnow said:

"Winnow works with caterers around the world and we are finding that sustainability and innovation have becomes the driving force as we recover from the Covid lockdown.

"This award gives exposure to responsible businesses leading the way to a sustainable future. The work of the 'sustainability community' has never been more important."

Winnow builds AI tools to help chefs run more profitable and sustainable kitchens. Operating in 40 countries with offices in London, Dubai, Singapore and Shanghai, kitchens that use Winnow tend to see a 40-70% reduction in food waste.

Winnow works with contract catering firms, restaurant groups, retailers, hotel chains and cruise lines; clients include the Compass Group, IKEA, Accor Hotels, IHG, Hilton and Costa Cruises.

"Sustainability is coming higher up the agenda for action by the UK catering industry – indeed it has to – because we are running out of water and learning more about the harm we have done to our suffering planet," says Meiko UK MD Paul Anderson.

"BioMaster completes the circle of what we do as a supplier, providing ware washing solutions, maximum hygiene and returning sustainable benefit back to the planet.

"I know that Meiko staff will be as delighted as myself with this recognition for BioMaster. True sustainability pays back in the long term and products such as BioMaster represent the type of new generational thinking that will help us bring our planet back to a sustainable level."
